1,250 children with diabetes were able to attend 1 of 12 camps across the country – where they learned about managing their diabetes in a fun, outdoor environment, including blood glucose testing, administering insulin injections and meal planning… while gaining independence from their parents by beginning to take more personal responsibility for their disease on a day-to-day basis.
We launched the Canadian Diabetes Association’s Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Prevention and Management of Diabetes in Canada – assisting healthcare professionals in preventing and managing diabetes, and helping all levels of government understand the seriousness of the diabetes epidemic.
$5.8-million was granted to 116 research teams this past year helping renowned scientists and clinical leaders to better translate research findings into prevention, improved care and a better understanding of the causes of diabetes.
