About Camp
Saskatchewan Children’s camp takes place at Camp Easter Seal, located at Manitou Beach, Saskatchewan. This week long camp provides children who have diabetes with what is often their first experience away from home.

Up to 65 campers learn independence and self-management of their diabetes in a medically supervised environment while having fun with others kids who face similar challenges.

Who is eligible?
Any child with diabetes, who is between 8 - 14 years and who is a Saskatchewan resident is eligible to attend camp. Applicants are accepted in the following order of priority:

1. Children who have been diagnosed within the past year.
2. Children who have never attended this camp.
3. Children will be accepted according to the number of years they have attended camp, if none of the above criteria apply (e.g. a child who has attended camp for two years will have priority over a child who has attended camp for five years).
4. Applicants will be considered from neighbouring provinces; however, Saskatchewan residents have priority.

Accommodations

Groups of six to eight campers (accompanied by at least two counselors) share clean, comfortable cabins with heat and electricity. Showers and toilet facilities are located close to each cabin.

Supervision

Campers are supervised at all times by specially trained staff to ensure the best possible care and programs. Counselors are screened and selected for their maturity, understanding and capacity for responsible care of campers. They receive diabetes training to enable them to give the highest standard of care and guidance.

Diabetes Management at Camp

Medical supervision is provided 24-7 by Saskatchewan’s only pediatric endocrinologist and a team of dietitians, nurses, and medical residents.  Blood sugar checking is done in central locations, supervised by the diabetes team, 4 times a day or more throughout camp.
