The Flynn Family, parents Roger and Donna and sons Matthew and Cameron, is a family living with diabetes. One day after his first birthday, on August 29, 1997, Matthew Flynn was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes; while, 10 days before his second birthday, on January 2, 2004 Cameron Flynn was also diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.  For this family of four the last nine years has been quite an adventure.

Study searches for clues to self-change

On the surface, following a healthy lifestyle is relatively straightforward: eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly and don’t smoke. But as we all know, changing habits acquired over a lifetime is not so simple.

Funded by the Canadian Diabetes Association, Dr. Véronique Provencher of the University of Toronto is studying the factors that may explain why people have difficulties changing lifestyle habits and how an eight-week self-change program may help people with type 2 diabetes improve their blood glucose management.
